HelenKay Dimon kicks off her hot new romantic suspense series, Bad Boys Undercover, featuring the fierce men of Alliance—and the only women capable of taming their hearts.
Camped out at a resort bar in Fiji, CIA operative Ward Bennett may look like he’s on vacation but he’s really deep undercover, hunting a dictator on the run. Ward may be on the job, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for the sexy female bartender. That is, until she drugs him.
When Tasha Gregory discovers the hottie on the barstool isn’t who he pretends to be, her MI6 training kicks into gear, and she has no choice but to take him out. Problem is, Ward’s not an easy man to put down for long. More than once, his interference almost blows her surveillance operation—and her ability to keep her heart to herself.
As the situation heats up, these two must decide whether they can trust one another—and quick. Working together might just make everyone safer, but getting close enough for comfort … might just get them killed.

This was not going well. Hard to charm a woman who looked ready to kill him but he tried anyway. “Maybe you could untie me.”
She pulled a gun out from behind her back. Not a baby gun either. No, this was a SIG Sauer P229, the same type he preferred to carry, and could put a good-sized hole in him.
He cleared his throat. “Or not.”
“Your record is clean.” She took a step closer. Just one and not quite far enough.
“I don’t know what that means.” But he did. She was talking in a language he knew all too well. In an instant he went from thinking about her as some kind of con woman looking to score on a hapless businessman to something very different. Something mercenary and potentially dangerous to his operation.
“The underage drinking charge was a nice touch on your record. Most people clean up their backgrounds a bit too much.” She shot him a level gaze. “But I think you know that.”
Forget mercenary. This woman worked for someone. Getting that deep into his cover, past the stuff that even though faked should have looked as if it were expunged, meant connections.  Impressive ones. “And you know this as part of your job as a resort bartender?”
“Now who’s lying?” He focused on her face as he slipped the homemade shim out of his back pocket and went to work forcing it under the locking mechanism on the zip tie.
The who-was-she possibilities spun through his head. He was there on a sanctioned job to find a nasty dictator hiding in paradise. The operation’s directive was clear:  find Drissa Tigana and neutralize him before started selling off some of those rocket launchers he stole when he skipped his country and headed here. Fear was Tigana would destabilize Fiji and no one wanted that to happen except possibly Tigana.
Tasha could be one more person looking to make a quick buck in Fiji. Ward leaned toward believing that possibility but wondering if maybe he stumbled into something unrelated to Tigana. Maybe she liked tying guys up. Any way you looked at it, their time together was about done, which was a damn shame since they’d skipped the sex part.

Great start to what promises to be an awesome new series!  Ward and Tasha have great chemistry whether they are engaged in banter or burning up the pages. Considering the short length of the book, the story did not feel rushed. Humor, action and romance blend together for a thoroughly enjoyable read.   I can't wait to see who Ford is paired up with in the next book. I hope Ward and Tasha give him a taste of his own medicine.

HelenKay Dimon is a former divorce attorney turned full-time romance author. Odd transition, right? She has sold over thirty novels, novellas and shorts to numerous publishers, including Kensington, Harlequin and Penguin, Samhain, Carina Press, and HarperCollins. Her nationally bestselling and award-winning books have been showcased in numerous venues and her books have twice been named "Red-Hot Reads" and excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine. But the best part of the job is never having to wear pantyhose.
