I don't know what to say about the story and not spoil it. I will say that it was heartbreaking, emotional and wonderful. I did not read the previous book, Five Years Gone, about John's ex, but I have a feeling that if you did, you would be even more invested in John's story. The only thing that bothered me was that it was a little repetitive in the way John constantly thought about Ava and their past in the beginning, I was so glad that it did not go for very long. I feel that it would be better to read the previous book to get the full experience and understand the character's better.
