Gage's ex-wife broke his heart when she cheated on him with his best friend eight years ago. Since then he given up on women. Delaney is trying to make a new life for herself and her son Jacob after being betrayed by his father. These two don't start off on the right foot when they first met, and matters only get worse when they find themselves living next door to each other. Sparks fly when they are together, partly due to the attraction they are both trying to fight.

After a drunken confession by Gage about his ex-wife and his feeling for Delaney, they agree to go out a date. Thing seem to be moving in the right direction until Delaney tells Gage about Jacob's father. They smooth things out, they continue to have issues with Gage's lack of trust. When his former best friend comes back to town and approaches Delaney, Gage reacts badly and loses Delaney. After some groveling on his end, Delaney will need to decide if she can forgive him and move on, or live without the man she loves.
